According to reports, Elon Musk's SpaceXAI is facing a significant talent exodus. Since February, more than 50 researchers and engineers have left the company, including key experts in programming, world models, and Grok voice systems. SpaceXAI, rebranded from Musk's earlier acquisition xAI, just completed its brand overhaul this month, but the personnel turbulence at critical positions has raised concerns about its R&D capabilities.
Reports indicate that departing employees mostly moved to Meta and Thinking Machine Labs, the startup founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati. Insiders reveal team dissatisfaction with rushed decision-making and sacrificed product quality during Grok model development. Additionally, SpaceX's stock options and financial opportunities made leaving easier—former xAI employees received conversion options after the merger, and some chose to cash out.
